Conor McGregor’s prediction of Charles Oliveira defeating Islam Makhachev at UFC 280 proves to be as worst predictor ever following his trump card’s loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protege

Conor McGregor has always been the fans’ favorite fighter in the UFC arena. Though the Irish fighter has been out of the octagon for more than a year, he still shares his thoughts through his social media handles. During a Twitter Q&A session with fans, one fan asked about UFC 280 prediction from the former lightweight and featherweight champion.

Notorious replied in a confident way that the former Brazilian champion, Charles Oliveira, would win the bout in a convincing way.

“Olly and easily”

But the prediction was proven wrong by Islam Makhacev. The Russian fighter won the bout in a dominating way. He took down Charles Oliveira in the second round as Do Bronx tapped out after three minutes of the second round.

Islam had the full support of the UFC’s longest-reigning lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Eagle not only shared his thoughts, but also mentored Islam before the title clash; even during the event, Khabib was in the corner to motivate and support Islam at UFC 280.

Khabib also predicted the result of the main event of UFC 280:

“I think Islam is more skilled than Oliveira. Secondly, his experience as an amateur fighter. Also, he’s at his peak. Islam is at his peak. Islam isn’t 23, 26, or 27. He’s 30. A week after the fight, he’ll be 31. It’s the best time for any athlete. It’s a time when your mental and physical state should be in synergy. Sometimes your mental state is high, but your physical state is going down.”

Khabib’s prediction about UFC 280 became the truth, thus making his once fiercest rival Conor’s prediction a false one. Fans are bashing Conor for the false prediction, and they consider his prediction not as good as his performance in the Octagon.
