As a consequence, Lee took to his social media platforms to share a video announcing his retirement from the sport.

“To make a long story short, I’m deciding to retire from MMA and the UFC. It’s been 12 years, 12 long years of me being the best fighter I can be, and a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication to trying to be the best fighter in the world.” Lee said.

During the announcement, Kevin reflected on his MMA journey, acknowledging that he had an impressive career by facing numerous tough opponents, including some of the world’s most formidable fighters. The American fighter emphasized that he never shied away from challenges and constantly pushed himself beyond his perceived limits.

“I hold my head up high. I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t accomplish everything I wanted to but I’m proud of myself for this career that I’ve had and I appreciate everybody who has given two f****s about me and everybody who has supported me.” Kevin added.

Although Kevin did not explicitly disclose the exact reason for his retirement, the Michigan-born mentioned the past three years have been physically demanding, with numerous injuries taking a toll on his body. Additionally, he revealed that he requires another surgery following his last fight, further contributing to his choice to step away from the sport.
