Deontay Wilder reflects on Joseph Parker loss after contemplating to retire from boxing: “Sorry if I let anyone down”

Deontay Wilder, once a WBC champion, was recently in the ring with Joseph Parker for the 12-round boxing match-up at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. Deontay was about to make a statement to the boxing world about his worthiness for the title fight.

Wilder has faced losses only against Tyson Fury, i.e., twice. Eddie Hearn already confirmed that Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua are in big shape on the December 23rd event night if they win their bout. The fans might get to see former WBC and former WBA champions competing in the boxing ring.

Joseph Parker defeated Deontay Wilder

Now the results are out for the last biggest event of the year. Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker both survived the 12-round fight. Both boxers were throwing heavy punches, resulting in a unanimous decision victory going to one accuracy-expertise fighter. The judges scored the co-main event with 118-111, 118-110, and 120-108 as the 38-year-old disappointed Anthony Joshua’s hopes for their potential bout in March next year.

Joseph Parker secured the victory against former WBC champion Wilder. On his Instagram, he was seen disappointed and connected with fans. He later gave his take on the last bout he lost against Parker.

“I’m still full of happiness, still full of joy, and still full of smiles. Sorry if I let anyone down, but we will be back! That’s the thing about it, you know,” he said. Deontay Wilder showed the world once again that he is not giving up right now and that he accepts the fact that he disappointed the fans.

Deontay Wilder talks about retirement plans

Whether Deontay Wilder is planning to retire from boxing, the answer seems to be a no, as Wilder still has faith in making a turnaround. The 38-year-old confirmed on his Instagram, “We’ll see what happens; we still have a little bit left, but I did a great job managing my money. I’m a happy fighter. I’ll be back, and if not, then it’s been a pleasure.”

But surely, he believes his hunger to win the fight is what made the difference in today’s matchup. “I don’t know if I still have the same fire I used to, but a lot has calmed me down. I’ve been wearing this smile all week long, and I’m still wearing it. Nothing can stop me from doing that.”

Wilder’s past rival Tyson Fury seemingly took part in one of his other defeats, revealed Jospeh Parker. Parker informed prior to the fight that he was taking help from Tyson Fury for his upcoming bout against Deontay Wilder.

Parker said, “Tyson was able to give me some advice and some knowledge on fighting Deontay Wilder. He has given me a few pointers and advice, and he’s actually helped me with sparring, so anytime I have needed Tyson’s help, he’s always been there, so thanks to him for always making time to help me, especially for this camp and this fight coming up.”

Fans were expecting to see who would be next for Francis Ngannou, and now they might see Deontay Wilder as the next opponent for the former UFC heavyweight champion. Though there is still lots of work to do on both sides, it remains to be seen who will be next for the former WBC champion as Wilder faced a big margin defeat against Parker.

Who, according to you, will be the next opponent for the former WBC champion? Will it be Francis Ngannou or some other heavyweight boxer? Do comment with your suggestions on what will be best for the disappointed Deaontay Leshun Wilder and what, according to you, will be best for Wilder’s career after 43 wins in 47 fights.
