Drew McIntyre ‘medically disqualified’: One of the Celtic Warrior’s Brawling Brutes buds to replace WWE star

Sheamus and Drew McIntyre were set to compete for the WWE tag team title on Friday Night SmackDown. This duo was supposed to face the winner of Monday Night Raw’s tag-team bout between Matt Riddle and Elias vs. The Usos.

Unfortunately, the two-time WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, was ruled out for medical disqualification just before the match. McIntyre announced the sad news on his Twitter account on Monday.

“Unfortunately I am medically disqualified to compete this Friday on #Smackdown

I don’t like to miss any shows as everybody knows but I promise I’ll be back soon”

His teammate Sheamus didn’t forget to show his solidarity towards this unwanted incident. Sheamus replied on Twitter:

“We need ya lad, hurry back 👊🏻”

Many fans speculated that it was a part of the storyline of the upcoming battle, but Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed that the incident was not part of the storyline. The reason for the medical disqualification was not disclosed, but it seems that the fighter has a serious medical issue.

Drew McIntyre wanted to participate in the fight, but WWE didn’t want to take the risk, which kept McIntyre out of the ring until Christmas.

“[McIntyre] is injured. I was told an injury, but it’s not from a firsthand source. But he’s supposed to be back for the Christmas shows. So it’s only a couple of weeks, I know that. The only thing I know is that he wanted to wrestle, and they would not let him wrestle. But it’s not like it’s going to be a long-term thing, at least as it stands right now.”

Sheamus is looking for a replacement for the upcoming battle, as according to the insiders, one of the Celtic Warrior’s Brawling Brutes buds is set to team up with Sheamus to fight for the title.
