Explore Khamzat Chimaev title shot possibilities and options for UFC 2023

Khamzat ‘Borz’ Chimaev had one of the most blazing entries to the UFC. His first two fights took place in two weight classes(Welterweight and Middleweight) in a span of only 10 days and he won both fights pretty one-sidedly landing performance of the night bonuses on each occasion.

For a while now, ‘Borz’ has been struggling to land himself a challenger as most fighters don’t match up very well against aggressive wrestling and raw power. Some fighters have actually come out to throw a challenge at the prospect. For 2023, here are some potential matchups that can get him closer to a title fight.

Khamzat Chimaev vs Paulo Costa

Khamzat nearly got into a fight against Paulo Costa at UFC PI very recently. The two shared a lot of strong words for each other on social media later on. Paulo even expressed interest in fighting the Chechen and made a video asking ‘Borz’ to sign the contract.

Costa currently has one more fight left in his contract, if he does manage to win against the ‘Wolf’, then he should be able to renegotiate better pay for his upcoming bouts.

Khamzat Chimaev vs Marvin Vettori

While Marvin and Khamzat do not share seem to share any bad blood, both fighters can probably gift the fans a good matchup if they choose to fight. Marvin can leverage his potential win toward yet another title shot and Chimaev could use his potential win to take on Alex ‘Paotan’ Pereira who doesn’t seem to have the strongest wrestling/grappling abilities.

Khamzat Chimaev vs Colby Covington

Colby has been missing from the title picture ever since he got jumped by Jorge Masvidal. Now that the police are releasing more and more evidence on the matter and Covington has had enough time to recover, the loud and proud republican can make a comeback statement if he can beat the two-division powerhouse.

2023 already has a lot of exciting bouts, inserting Khamzat Chimaev in the mix should only make it more interesting.
