“I love the company, dearly” Conor McGregor confirms future with UFC ahead of comeback fight vs Michael Chandler

Conor McGregor is by far the biggest UFC superstar and no one comes even close to the former two-division champion’s stardom. McGregor was last seen inside the octagon in July 2021 at UFC 264 where he fought his trilogy against one of his biggest rivals Dustin Poirier. That fight though turned out to be a nightmare for McGregor as he suffered a horrific leg break at the end of the very first round and has been out of action for almost two years now.

McGregor now seems to be medically fit to return to competition as per reports and a couple of passed drug tests should be enough to announce the dates for the fight. However, as per McGregor’s current contract with the UFC, he only has two fights left with the organization.

Will Conor McGregor continue his career with the UFC?

McGregor recently appeared on The MMA Hour hosted by Ariel Helwani and was asked about his future with the UFC to which he responded,

“For me, the UFC is the pinnacle. It’s the company I love, it’s the company I wish to be with for the rest of my career. So, I’ve got two fights left on my contract and I hope we can continue. So, I wanna be in the UFC, that’s my catalog – it’s in the UFC. My highlight reel is in the UFC.”

McGregor further added “I love the company, dearly. It’s the company that changed my life. It’s given me so much and helped me in many situations in my life. The UFC is my company.” McGregor hasn’t been the most active fighter in recent years specifically from 2017-2021 when he only fought four times losing thrice in that period.

Who is Conor McGregor fighting next?

McGregor is all set to make his comeback against one of the most entertaining fighters in the entire UFC roster, Michael Chandler. But before the mega-fight, both the fighters will appear on the 31st edition of The Ultimate Fighter which will air on ESPN on May 30th and has reportedly finished filming for the show.

Talking about the fight McGregor weighed in on Chandler’s skillset, declaring chandler as a ‘short wrestler’. The Notorious said “For Chandler, I’m just too slick for him, I’m too skilled for him, and he’s not fought someone like me. I’ve fought someone like him, though…It’s just in general. It’s the mixed martial arts style, right? The short wrestler. It’s just kind of MMA, isn’t it? It ain’t nothing peculiar…or unsure of. I’ve fought against that style (for) many, many years.”
