“I would do it”: UFC star Conor McGregor reveals desire to fight in bare-knuckle boxing event

UFC superstar Conor McGregor made an appearance at the BKFC 41 in April which took place at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield Colorado. The Irishman stole the show at the PPV as he engaged in a staredown with Mike Perry after the latter won his main event bout with Luke Rockhold.

McGregor seemed to enjoy the entire BKFC event as he cheered his former rivals Chad Mendes and Eddie Alvarez who clashed against each other. In a recent interview, The Notorious was asked whether he would take a bare-knuckle fight. Surprisingly, Conor revealed that he is open to fighting in BKFC and explained how Bare Knuckle fighting is intriguing to watch.

“I would do it. Yes, I would do it, and I’d be happy to do it. It’s hard to get a boring fight in it, and it’s actually almost impossible for a boring fight to happen in it, and I’ll tell you why – no other discipline or sport can say that there’s a zero percent chance of having a boring fight.

Boxing can be a snoozefest, MMA can be a snooze fest. There’s no chance of a boring fight in bare-knuckle because even if it is just a back-and-forth jab match, even a jab splits the skin. So from the split skin causes panic in the ring, and the crowd rises, and there’s zero chance of a boring fight. So it’s interesting. I’d be up for it, for sure. Why not?”

Who can Conor McGregor fight from the BKFC roster?

Conor McGregor has shown interest in competing inside the BKFC organization. The Irishman has showered nothing but praise for the fighting promotion for booking incredible matchups. With that being said if The Notorious ever decides to fight in BKFC, who is the ideal opponent?

Mike Perry seems to be the best option for now as the former UFC star has put up some spectacular performances in BKFC. Besides, their faceoff after the recent event and Perry’s mic skills will also garner a lot of attention from fight fans. Other than this matchup, his two rivals, Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez will draw a big crowd and PPV numbers as they have a history with the Irishman.

When will McGregor make his return to the UFC?

Conor McGregor has been enjoying life to its fullest. The former UFC champion was last seen at the Monaco GP that took place yesterday. From the looks of it, The Notorious is currently not training for his comeback. But we might see McGregor get back and train for his fight against Michael Chandler very soon.

The Irishman has been out of action for almost two years as he last fought against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. As of now, the UFC superstar has not entered the USADA testing pool. But according to the reports, Conor will be back in the testing pool in the next few days.

A fighter has to stay in USADA’s pool for a minimum of six months before getting inside the octagon. With that being said, Conor McGregor will try to make his return before the end of 2023. There are rumours that the Irishman is targeting the December card.
