Deontay Wilder’s trainer drops bombshell update on former WBC heavyweight champs next bout: “Andy Ruiz is right there in the mix”

A month ago, Anthony Joshua announced that he would fight Deontay Wilder in December. The trainer of Wilder recently disclosed that Andy Ruiz is also being considered as Deontay’s upcoming opponent, and that a decision will be made very soon.

In October of last year, The Bronze Bomber last entered the ring against Robert Helenius. The head coach of Wilder, Malik Scott, told the media that they are considering an additional opponent in between now and December rather than waiting for Deontay to face Joshua at the end of the year.

Malik Scott on Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz

If Wilder waits until December to face the Briton that would mean a long gap for the American boxer. Hence Scott is considering Ruiz for Wilder and the fight has to happen very soon within July.

“Absolutely I would like to fight between now and December. That’s no secret at all. Andy Ruiz is right there in the mix. Anything can happen. We’re one move away from making very crucial decisions for the better of Deontay’s career,” Scott

The American boxer has been looking for an opponent to return to the ring as soon as possible. All boxers are potential candidates, according to the 37-year-old, who also stated everyone’s been taken into consideration. They are speaking with every fighter, especially the top contenders like Andy Ruiz, says the Alabama native.

What about Destroyer vs The Gypsy King fight?

Meanwhile, Ruiz and Tyson Fury have been in communication. Numerous rumors about possible matches involving The Gypsy King have surfaced. Following Anthony Joshua, the fight against Ruiz appeared to be the most likely and closest.

Manny Robles, a former Andy Ruiz trainer, has added his perspective on Fury’s desire to fight the Destroyer. Tyson’s side has been advised by Manny not to view the bout with Andy as a setup, as doing so will cost them.

When Andy stunned the world by defeating Anthony Joshua in 2019 under Robles’ guidance, the world was stunned. He asserted that if Fury thinks he can defeat Ruiz easily, he will have a significant problem. He pointed out how, for instance, Ruiz was recklessly treated by Joshua, as a result AJ was defeated.
