“I’ve lost all faith in this sport” UFC fighters react to Paddy Pimblett’s controversial victory vs Jared Gordon

Paddy Pimblett secured a controversial victory over Jared Gorday on Saturday in the co-main event of UFC 282. The Englishman was awarded a 29–28 victory by all three judges, allowing the Baddy to remain undefeated in the UFC.

In the first round, Gordon dominated the fight, showing his experience in the octagon. In the second round, the English fighter came out aggressive, but Gordon was tough enough to show his defensive skills. In the third round, both fighters fought nearly the same, but considering all the strikes and defensive qualities, Gordon was the clear winner.

So, no one is happy with the judge’s decision; most of the media called the decision a robbery, and even Pimblett’s UFC colleagues reacted negatively regarding the decision. American welterweight fighter at the UFC, Philip Rowe, wrote on Twitter:

“The worst decision in @ufc history. There is an obvious agenda here. Paddy 10000% lost that fight. The UFC has to do better. Insane”

Amidst all of these, UFC president Dana White considers that it was the American fighter’s fault as he just gave away the fight. Dana anticipated that if Gordon fought hard enough, the decision would be made on the octagon rather than on the judge’s book. At the UFC 282 post-fight press conference, UFC president stated:

“Gordon had a horrible game plan going into that third round. You think you won the first two rounds with the judges? How do you know that? Why go in there and throw away the third round and not go in and fight your ass off and try to win?”

Even UFC admirers are upset with the decision, which they see as daylight robbery.
