Jake Gyllenhaal recalls getting ‘clocked in the face’ by Conor McGregor at 3 AM

Roadhouse, a film based on the life of an ex-UFC fighter, is set to be released on March 8th. Jake Gyllenhaal is starring as the main lead, with Conor McGregor as the second lead in the film.

Ahead of the upcoming release of Roadhouse and Conor McGregor’s Hollywood debut, Jake Gyllenhaal, in an interview with Jimmy Fallon, recalled the moment he got clocked by the former UFC 2 Division Champion during the shoot of the film.

Jake Gyllenhaal recounts getting hit by Conor McGregor

Jimmy Fallon, the host of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, told Jake Gyllenhaal about the moment he shared with the UFC Superstar, when the Irish Champ got drunk with Fallon and both of them headed over to a pub. Fallon told Jake that he felt very nervous around McGregor, recalling that he was afraid that a joke might not sit right with McGregor and Fallon would get knocked out by him.

Fallon then proceeded to ask Jake whether he ever received a blow from Conor during the duration of the shoot.

Jake Gyllenhaal then proceeded to reveal that during the shoot, while practicing a choreography for a fighting scene, Jake and Conor were going at each other as Conor was instructing Jake on when to move his head and how to make it look real.

According to Jake, there was a moment during that time they were discussing the choreography when Conor was telling Jake about a ‘left hook’ that looked good and while acting out the same, Conor accidentally clocked Jake right on the chin.

Jake told Fallon that Conor was immediately apologetic about it and both of them shared a funny moment. Jake also told Fallon about accidentally slamming the car door on McGregor, saying that McGregor was barely bothered by it.

“I slammed the car door on his face… like legit.. and he was just like… that tickled,” said Gyllenhaal.

Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal lock horns in arm wrestling competition

Conor McGregor, set to potentially make a comeback against Michael Chandler in June, has been accompanying fellow star Jake Gyllenhaal on a promotional tour for their film, Roadhouse.

During a promotional video with BuzzFeed, Jake Gyllenhaal was challenged to go against McGregor in an arm wrestling bout. Jake and McGregor, both up for challenges, then proceeded to lock arms in an arm wrestling competition on the floor itself. McGregor proceeded to secure a win over Gyllenhaal, and both of them shared a good laugh about the same.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor have shared time with each other since the beginning of the shooting of the film in 2021 and have become good friends since then. Ahead of a scheduled comeback in the Octagon and the release of his first Hollywood film, 2024 is a big year for “The Notorious.”
