Jorge Masvidal has no immediate plan for boxing or bare-knuckle fighting after UFC retirement

Jorge Masvidal began his mixed martial arts career approximately twenty years ago. Gamebred finally decided to put his gloves away after UFC 287.

Masvidal and Gilbert Burns squared off on April 8 at the Miami-Dade Arena as part of UFC 287’s co-main event, which also featured Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira 2 as the main event.

The Brazilian fighter defeated the Miami native by unanimous decision following three rounds of utter dominance over Gamebred. In the octagon interview, the former welterweight title challenger announced his retirement from the UFC.

Does Jorge Masvidal intend to box or engage in bare-knuckle combat?

It is only conceivable that the BMF title winner would find it very challenging to stay away from MMA after spending twenty years in the cage. In an interview with The MMA Hour, the 39-year-old fighter did indicate that he would like to try out different combat sports in the future.

“I’ll X out bare-knuckle [boxing] just because of my hands. Your boy has 20 years in the fight game. My hands have been through everything you can imagine. There’s times after fights that, it’s like the hands are bad with gloves and casts and all that.” said Masvidal.

The extremely skilled mixed martial artist has competed in Bellator, Strikeforce, Shark Fights, and World Victory Road in addition to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Even though he might have a shot in other combat sports in the future, the Miami native has nonetheless declared that he is officially done with mixed martial arts.

“So I personally couldn’t do that. I wouldn’t do MMA obviously, and I always wanted to do boxing fights, but as of right now, I would say no to all of it.” Masvidal added.

The UFC’s fastest knockout record holder finished his illustrious MMA career with 35 victories and 17 losses. Which of Jorge Masvidal’s fights do you remember the best? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section.
