Latest on UFC 285: Dana White sets PPV event featuring Cyril Gane vs Jon Jones for heavyweight mega-fight following Francis Ngannou release

After Cyril Gane called out Jon Jones for a heavyweight bout, many were not sure how to react to the potential bout. But now that Francis Ngannou has left the UFC and left a vacant title, a new war awaits the MMA world. After the event poster was leaked by the T-mobile arena revealing the Cyril Gane vs Jon Jones fight, MMA fans have been left talking.

What does Dana White say about the Cyril Gane vs Jon Jones matchup?

During the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight presser, Dana confirmed that the fight was happening, “Yes, T-Mobile blew the fight. It wasn’t supposed to go up, but it did. This is for the official heavyweight title.”

He talked about the negotiation failures stating, “We’ve been negotiating with Francis for more than two years. We offered Francis a deal that would’ve made him the highest-paid heavyweight in the history of the company – more than [Brock] Lesnar, more than anybody, and he turned the deal down.”

“I think Francis is at a place right now, where he doesn’t want to take a risk. He feels like he can fight lesser opponents and make more money. It’s not like this is something that has never happened before. There have been other guys that have come to us and said I don’t want to compete at this level anymore. We’re going to release him from his contract, and give up our right to match. He can go wherever he wants, do whatever he wants.”

Another contender Curtis Blaydes said, “Obviously I’ve seen the news, Gane is getting another title shot vs Jones. Most likely I’ll be getting the Pavolich, that’s cool with me. Like I’ve been saying I just want my next opponent ranked above me so a win actually elevates my ranking #UFC”

Cyril is coming off a win against Tai Tuivasa and called out Jon Jones on Twitter. Let’s hope the fight finally happens without further hiccups.
