“Let’s do it. Whatever” Robert Whittaker responds following Khamzat Chimaev’s call out

Are we going to see another big fight on top of the UFC Middleweight division? With most of the top fighters already having settled their scores on one or more occasions and a lack of promising prospects at the top (other than the championship fight), a Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev could shake up the division in a good way.

Earlier ‘Borz’ got frustrated with waiting for Colby Covington and defied his earlier statement of not wanting to fight Robert Whittaker owing to his gentle nature saying,

“I think I will fight Robert Whittaker. He’s got no opponent. Paulo Costa ran away after talking that much about me and Robert. So, I will fight Whittaker. I want this fight although I like him as a human being. He is a solid guy, doesn’t talk trash, doesn’t cross any lines.”

Robert also saw his recent potential fight against Paulo Costa fall apart and was looking for a new opponent. So the Aussie replied positively,

“Oh yeah, cool. Let’s do it. Whatever. Yeah, I don’t know. Like, if it’s a fight that gets presented to me, then it is what it is. Yeah, I think it’d be a good fight. I think he’d (Khamzat Chimaev) be a hard fight. I think he’s a phenomenal fighter. I think he has a lot of strengths. I think I have a lot of strengths. I think I’m a hard fighter for him just the same.”

He added further, “And I’m quite good with my hands, can stuff a lot of takedowns. I’m hard to hold down – I’m squirmy, you see. Yeah, it’ll be an interesting fight. That’ll be a showstopper for sure. I’m sure it’ll get a lot of people interested and excited.”

Why the Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev is significant?

With top contenders like Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier not favored for a title shot yet, a fight between ‘Bobby Knuckles’ and the ‘Borz’ could give us a title challenger.

Who will you be supporting in the battle of the fresh blood vs the seasoned veteran?
