Liverpool are closing in on a transfer for World Cup winner and Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer.
After he played a pivotal part in Argentina’s triumph at the 2022 World Cup last December, the midfielder became one of the world’s highest-sought players.
He has also been a solid player in Roberto De Zerbi’s midfield in Brighton. All of this earned him interest from many Premier League clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City. And a few days before, Brighton announced that Mac Allister will leave.
Liverpool is said to have attracted Alexis Mac Allister with their proposal and project. The Argentine is now set to move there in the following days.
Mac Allister to Liverpool speculated to be a done deal
According to Fabrizio Romano, Alexis Mac Allister is said to have agreed on a long-term contract with the club many weeks ago. His contract will be until June 2028 as he is part of their future project.
The talented midfielder is going to perform his medical exams with Liverpool on Tuesday. This means that they are speeding up the process to finalize the deal in the coming days. Mac Allister is also said to want to complete the deal before he leaves for international duty with Argentina this week.

Liverpool is ready to activate the release clause that he has in his contract with Brighton. It is estimated to be around £45-50m.
The Merseyside club wanted to complete the deal quickly as they didn’t want him to change his mind and join another rival club. Jurgen Klopp considers the player to be important as he looks to revamp the midfield that has been a major problem this season.
All sources indicate that Alexis Mac Allister will indeed become a Liverpool player. The official announcement can be expected later this week.
Now that Mac Allister is confirmed to come to the club, they can move to other targets. The club is also interested in buying Mason Mount from Chelsea, though Manchester United are said to be ahead in that transfer.
Mac Allister finishes stellar season helping Brighton achieve Europa League spot
Brighton have been on the rise this season. The appointment of Italian boss Roberto De Zerbi has led to Brighton playing some of the Premier League’s best football. They have upset some bigger teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal by huge margins.
It will be the first time in Brighton’s history that they will be playing in a European competition. To imagine a team that was in the third tier of English football in 2011 will now be playing in Europe is an impressive feat. This is also their best-ever season, having earned 62 points.
Among one of their top players is Alexis Mac Allister himself, if not the best player. He has 10 goals and 2 assists in 35 Premier League appearances this season. This makes him Brighton’s top scorer this season. He can score goals from a distance and also score them from set pieces.
But he is more than statistics. Alexis Mac Allister is one of the best technical players in the league. He can play brilliant passes to unlock opposition defenses or dribble out of dangerous pockets as well.
His control is also good and with a low center of gravity, he is great in tight situations.
Alexis Mac Allister will now hope to continue his success for his eventual new club Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp could further improve a player that has been on the rise since the World Cup.
