Currently in progress, the 2023 NFL draft saw three Black quarterbacks selected in the first ten picks, making it a historic first round.
Three quarterbacks were selected in the first round on Thursday night: Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, and Anthony Richardson. This was only the second time since 1999 that three Black quarterbacks were taken in the whole first round, let alone three in the first ten picks.

The tiniest quarterback ever selected, at just 5’10” and 204 pounds, is the 2021 Heisman trophy winner. Nevertheless, he was the overwhelming favorite to go first overall throughout the entire draft process, despite his size.
He is a wizard on the field and carried Alabama for the entire 2022 season, constantly producing highlight throws and plays of the year caliber with accuracy and precision. Already, experts have compared him to “Steph Curry on a football field.”

Stroud is a taller, slimmer quarterback who does not move much in the pocket. He’s a flawless passer who always completes his passes on schedule.
In his battle against the University of Georgia during the College Football Playoff, he performed admirably and gave the world a glimpse of something they had not seen during his entire time at Ohio State. He is now prepared to start for the Houston Texans and is an amazing young man.
Of the three, this young Florida child has the best physical aptitude. In addition to being enormous (6’4″ and 231 pounds), he is also incredibly athletic. However, he was inconsistent in his lone season as a starter at the University of Florida, performing admirably one week and poorly the next. He can yet develop.
Unlike all the common expectations prior to these incidents, we only thought of black quarterbacks as being physically powerful and dominating presences on the pitch. But it seems the wind of change has touched every sector just like this NFL draft.
Moreover, after these quarterbacks were selected fans could not help themselves from rushing toward their favorite social media platform Twitter sharing their over-the-top opinion with the rest of the NFL world.
