NFL Rumors: Chargers hunt for HC continues as club interview Kellen Moore and Bengals OC Brian Callahan

The Los Angeles Chargers’ exploration for head coach position is over. Just as it was announced that Kellen Moore had parted ways with the Cowboys, he was hired by the Chargers within 24 hours.

The Chargers are looking for a replacement for the offensive coordinator position after the firing of Brandon Staley. Chargers requested to interview Bengals OC Brian Callahan for the same.

Chargers interview Kellen Moore for HC role

Kellen Moore has teamed up with the Los Angeles Chargers for a head coach role. Moore is an experienced OC; he has served for 8 years with the Dallas Cowboys, including four years as offensive coordinator. His tenure at the Dallas Cowboys as offensive coordinator started in 2019, and with his strategies, he was able to lead the team to No. 2 in the NFL in total offense.

Moore is joining a strong Chargers offense with players like Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams. Coach Brandon Stanley and general manager Tom Telesco shared their views and expectations for coordinator and head coach positions, in which they expressed that the franchise is currently looking for someone who can uplift the rushing attack and boost the ground attack.

Charges approach Bengals to interview Brain Callahan

The Los Angeles Chargers have requested an interview with Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan for the vacant head coach position. Brian Callahan is 39 years old and has been serving the Bengals since 2019 as an offensive coordinator. He started his career in 2010 as a coaching assistant with the Denver Broncos. Callahan led the Denver Broncos for six years and led the team to a win in Super Bowl 50 in 2015.

Owing to his experience and exceptional results, Brian Callahan might be a perfect fit for what the Chargers are looking for. The Panthers also requested to interview Callahan for a head coaching job. Callahan has coached the Lions in 2016–2017 and the Raiders in 2018. It would be exciting to see which team Callahan finally decides to join.

Other than Brian Callahan, the Chargers are also interviewing some significant names; some of them are:

  • Joe Brady, quarterbacks coach (Bills): Interview requested
  • Thomas Brown, tight ends coach (Rams): Interviewed
  • Jerrod Johnson, assistant quarterbacks coach (Vikings): Interviewed
