What is Valorant Premier? Exploring the new ‘beyond radiant’ competitive mode

Ever since the launch of the vastly popular FPS shooter Valorant, its developers have worked day in and day out to upgrade the game and introduce new features to improve the gaming world of Valorant.

In pursuit of the same vision, Riot Games came up with a new vision for the future of competitive Valorant: “Valorant Premier”. It is a history-changing moment for the game, which aims to elevate the level of competition beyond what players are accustomed to in ranked matches.

What is Valorant Premier?

Valorant Premier has been designed to provide an even higher goal beyond Radiant, offering an unforeseen challenge for the most competitive players.

The new mode allows you to build a five-person team to compete in a more competitive environment. “They will be able to create or join a team of five friends, acquaintances, and neighbors and battle for glory against teams of a similar skill level,” said Riot.

Once the team is composed, it will then play across a season encompassing a mix of weekly matches and tournaments. If the team succeeds, it may qualify for the end-of-season tournament to battle for the title of Division Champion.

Leo Faria, Valorant’s Head of eSports, said that Premier could be the gateway to the VCT Challengers leagues, replacing the current open qualifying system in the future.

Valorant Premier: Release date, divisions, match rules, rewards

The latest Valorant Premier Episode 8 Act 1 is scheduled to start on January 9, 2024. As per the schedule, it will last for over seven weeks and end on March 3, 2024.

The above-mentioned period is divided into three sections: the enrollment period ranging from January 9 to January 16, the weekly matches ranging from January 17 to March 2 and the playoff tournament to be held on March 3, 2024.

Valorant Premier this time will have five distinct divisions. Teams will be seeded into one of those based on the team’s average MMR of its top five players.

The rewards enlisted in Episode 8, Act 1, are unique and exciting. Players who will be playing at least one Premier match will get a Player Card, while playoff winners will receive a Division Gun Buddy.
