“Prayers to the young man” UFC fighters react to Damar Hamlin’s cardiac arrest during Bills vs Bengals game

Damar Hamlin, a Buffalo Bills player, collapsed on the field during the first quarter of Monday night’s highly anticipated game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Many prominent athletes from various sports have offered their respects following this unfortunate incident, including many fighters from the UFC world.

Hamlin, a defensive player for the Bills, went down in the game after attempting a tackle on the Bengals’ Tee Higgins. Since he experienced a sudden collapse and was unable to get up, he was taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a heart attack. The 24-year-old was taken to the intensive care unit, and a family stated his condition is critical.

The game was momentarily halted following Damar’s cardiac collapse as players from both teams panicked. On the field, the young player was promptly given CPR. This injury was a reminder of how dangerous sports like NFL can be at times. The sports world is horrified after witnessing a fit player collapse to the ground due to a heart attack.

When it comes to deadly injuries in sports, mixed martial arts professionals are the most likely to relate, given that they often suffer such awful injuries. Many combat athletes have expressed their heartfelt condolences on Twitter and other social media platforms. UFC welterweight fighter Belal Muhammad has also said that his prayers will be with the injured NFL star.

Derek Brunson, a middleweight fighter, has expressed his thoughts by saying, “Crazy seeing the young man Damar Hamlin having to get CPR on the field of a live NFL game. Professional sports has it perks and negatives in which athletes go through on a daily basis that no one sees. Prayers to the young man.”

American mixed martial artist Michael Chiesa has expressed his fear saying, ”My biggest fear as a fighter is exactly what we just saw in this football game. My prayers go out to Damar Hamlin and his family.”

In spite of medical progress, Damar Hamlin’s health is still deemed critical, according to his doctors. Everyone in the sporting world is keeping their fingers crossed for Hamlin.
