Raiders WR Davante Adams’s NFL future with Las Vegas in question amid trade talks

The NFL world is always filled with unexpected twists and turns and no one knows this better than the die-hard fans of the Las Vegas Raiders. As the winds of change are blowing through the organization once again, the focus has shifted to Davante Adams. As rumors of trade talks swirl around the league, the future of the Raiders WR with the team is in question.

The team decided to acquire Adams from the Green Bay Packers and paired him with their franchise quarterback, Derek Carr. However, despite his exceptional performance, the team’s struggles and potential rebuild have sparked conversations about trading the star wide receiver.

Davante Adams and Raiders’ Performance in the 2022 Season

The 2022 season was quite disappointing for the Raiders. The team struggled out of the gate and failed to regain contention. They finished with a 6-11 record under the coach Josh McDaniels. However, Adams still lived up to the expectations. In his team Green Bay, he earned five consecutive Pro Bowl selections and also two All-Pro seasons. He was also named a first-team All-Pro in 2022.

The addition of such a great player was very important for the Raiders. However, now the team has brought in Jimmy Garoppolo to compete at quarterback. And with the potential attempt to rebuild the team, it is a great opportunity for the Raiders to trade the WR for future assets.

Recent comments made by the star wide receiver have added fuel to the trade speculation, further igniting the conversation.

How will Adams’ Trade benefit the team?

Davante Adams

The potential trade after June 1 would limit the cap change to $7.85 million this year and $23.6 million in the next year. Alternatively, Adams could be traded after June 1, 2024, once again reducing the cap charge to $7.85 million and pushing $15.7 million to 2025. With the Raiders WR currently having a manageable salary of $6.03 million in 2023 and already receiving a $20 million roster bonus, the Raiders could part ways with him without facing significant cap consequences.

If Adams’ statements have persuaded the organization to move on from him, it is not an impossible task to trade him. The question remains whether the team will choose to do so and whether Davante is intentionally trying to instigate this outcome.

Regardless, a trade is not out of the realm of possibility. The manageable cap consequences and the unavoidable current cap charge make it a viable option for the Raiders if they decide to move on from Davante. The coming weeks and months will reveal whether the star wide receiver’s future lies in Las Vegas or if a new chapter awaits him elsewhere in the NFL.
