“RIP” Superfan Lil Wayne writes Packers obituary after their loss

Lil Wayne took to Twitter after Green Bay’s latest defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The rapper put a nail in his team’s coffin and took a shot at the franchise quarterback. Inexperienced Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers throws throughout pregame towards the Detroit Lions, Nov. 6, 2022, in Detroit.

Rodgers signed a four-year, $200 million deal with the Packers earlier this year, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history. According to Spotrac, if the Packers were to get rid of the four-time league MVP next season, the team would take on $99 million in dead money towards their payroll, which basically means Green Bay cannot afford to let him go.

After starting the season with a 3-1 record, the Packers have dropped five straight games. They are now five games behind the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North division. Green Bay’s decline could be traced back to their decision to trade wide receiver Devante Adams this past offseason, despite the overwhelming statistical evidence that the star quarterback’s success was linked to his No. 1 target.

Rapper Lil Wayne performs during the NFC Divisional Playoff game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on January 12, 2020, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. “If you don’t get hung up, nailed to the walls by the hood, towels, and all that stuff. eat from this Green Bay bowl,” he said. Wayne has been a loyal and public Packers fan for years, appearing during pre-game ceremonies at Lambeau Field before past playoff games, and even recording an anthem for the team’s 2021 playoff run. That song, titled “Green and Yellow” and sampling Wiz Khalifa’s famous Pittsburgh-themed “Black and Yellow,” includes lyrical praise of Rodgers.
