Roger Federer apparently interested in having Andy Murray as a teammate in Laver Cup 2022

All time Tennis great Roger Federer holds the record of winning most singles matches (6) alongside German player Alexander Zverev in Laver Cup but this year Federer is rooting for Andy Murray who will make the debut in ‘European Team’ at London.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer already got the invitation to join Europe’s team while the latest addition is Andy Murray who is expected to enhance the strength of their team onto a new level.

Why is Roger Federer so pumped to have Andy Murray on his team?

As an experienced Laver Cup player, Roger Federer is more than capable of playing alongside any professional player as a team and this year he already got a team that includes another legendary player Rafael Nadal.

Despite teaming up with Rafa, the Swiss legend was seen more delighted after the news of the inclusion of Andy Murray joining their team in London.

To show support for Murray, King Roger even posted on Twitter, “Europe Avengers assemble”

Andy Murray was also seen excited to play alongside Roger and Rafael as he said, “I’m looking forward to playing the Laver Cup in London,”

Murray again added, “I love playing as part of a team and there is a great atmosphere and intensity to the event. I’ve heard lots of good things and I’m excited to be teaming up with both Roger and Rafa for Team Europe.”

Who will be the coach of the ‘European Team’?

Bjorn Borg, a former Swedish No. 1 tennis player, will be the main mentor for Federer and co in this year’s Laver Cup and after the inclusion of Murray in his team of six, he said, “I am extremely excited to have Andy on our team.”

Borg also added, “He is a dedicated, ferocious, and inspirational competitor who has re-established himself at the top of the game. He will be an incredible asset for the home team in both singles and doubles.”
