‘Sh*tload of Money’’: UFC president Dana White share/s candid thoughts on Conor McGregor’s future ahead of potential bout vs Michael Chandler

Arguably one of the most eagerly anticipated battles in the UFC this year is Conor McGregor’s return bout with Michael Chandler. Dana White had his fair share to say about McGregor though the message wasn’t particularly upbeat, many fans are still eagerly awaiting the match.

Mystic Mac has been undoubtedly one of the most interesting fighters on the UFC roster for around a decade now. His trash-talking abilities, charismatic off-the-octagon appearance, and attitude made him the face of the UFC during his prime. However, the UFC president expressed now he’s not dependent exclusively on Conor any more.

“I never get concerned. We have a massive roster of people that want to come in and people that are ready to fight and people that want to be Conor McGregor. And be at that level. This is a professional sport.” Dana said

During the post-fight press conference for UFC Vegas 74, Dana didn’t clearly share any positive news regarding the next fight of The Notorious but rather focused on how there are a bunch of amazing prospects who could get in the line and play the role McGregor in the future.

“People come in here, they achieve great things and they retire. You can never worry about that type of stuff. It is what it is. It’s part of the game. And it’s my job and my team’s job to find new talent and build them.” Dana added.

Is Conor McGregor the greatest fighter in UFC history?

Conor during his prime time was undoubtedly one of the finest UFC fighters ever. However, those days are long gone for the former two-division champion. Prior to the Mayweather boxing match, ‘Mystic Mac’ still had a decent record. But losses against the likes of Khabib and Dustin shattered his legacy quite a bit.

Individually the Irishman wouldn’t be topping anyone’s list of greatest UFC fighters. The likes of Daniel Cormier, Demetrious Johnson, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Jon Jones usually top these lists currently.

Can anyone in the current roster fill in for Conor McGregor?

Chandler’s performance hasn’t been that great lately. ‘Iron’ suffered defeat in three of his last four bouts. Even though the American fighter was victorious against Tony Ferguson, he suffered defeat at the hands of Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, and Charles Oliveira.

The likes of Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett and Sean O’Malley have often been touted as the next McGregor. However, both fighters seem to have a long way to go in terms of championship accolades to be considered anywhere near peak ‘Notorious’ legacy.
