Stipe Miocic claps back at Jon Jones’ “firefighter” jab with “I don’t really care” following UFC 285 as their matchup is at stake

Just a few days ago we got to see Jon ‘Bones’ Jones defeat Ciryl ‘Bon Gamin’ Gane for the Heavyweight championship of the world on UFC 285. It was already declared that former Heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic would face the winner of this fight. And now we are already seeing the buildup to Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic barely after the title fight ended.

Jones has been known to attack fighters verbally to get a reaction out of them. Such maneuvers usually help him in the actual fights as an emotional or non-focused opponent can often be easier to take out. After the fight ended Jon advised Stipe to “take time off from being a firefighter right now” and train for the match.

Miocic however, doesn’t seem bothered, “I think everyone tries to say that and they realize they’re in a world of hurt when it’s not happening the way they want. I don’t know if he knows this, but I’ve been a fireman the whole time I’ve been in my career in the UFC. But whatever, that’s none of my business. I don’t really care.”

But the former champ seems confident about his chances, “I’m going to win, there’s no question. There’s no question. I know that [he’s never lost,]. It sucks that he’s going to lose. He’s going [to have] a big ‘one.’ I’m not going to imagine it, it’s going to happen.”

How the odds are for the Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic fight?

Most fans and fighters agree that Gane did not seem ready for the task at hand. But we must not forget Miocic is a different beast. The Ohio native was not a favorite against Francis Ngannou in their first fight but he managed to pull through in the end. He also beat Daniel Cormier twice.

However, he is old and Jones seems to have beaten him in the age and number of fights department. It will be interesting to see how the fight goes in the current rumored timeframe of July.
