He talks his way into his opponent’s minds and defeats them even before entering the octagon. Conor’s mental warfare is highly effective and has helped him win fights more often than not!
McGregor mentally dismantled the likes of Jose Aldo Jr., Chad Mendes, and Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier before meeting them inside the cage only to win in a very convincing fashion. The only ones he could not mentally break down were probably Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nate Diaz, both the fights ended up as defeats for McGregor!
Conor faced Floyd Mayweather, one of the greatest boxers to ever live in 2017. Conor did not however did not change his approach to the legendary fighter, and continued to play mental games with him. In one incident, McGregor donned a Golden State Warriors shirt with the number #23 on it!
This was a sly dig at Mayweather, whose wife cheated on him with the former number #23 for the GSW, C.J Watson! This, however, was misunderstood by the current #23 Draymond Green who clapped at McGregor, saying “We rocking with Floyd bro not you, Take that off”.
Not one to back down from a war of words, McGregor explained the situation by telling him that he “dribbled heads off the floor. Not a ball. This is no game here, kid.” McGregor roasted the GSW power forward mercilessly for mentioning Floyd Mayweather’s name to him!
