Transfer News: Real Madrid Eyeing to Sign Gaga Slonina, Chelsea & Bayern Munich Also Showing

Real Madrid are eyeing move for Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gaga Slonina, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also interested in the 18-year old.

Real Madrid are on the lookout for Thibaut Courtois’ understudy. As such, they have identified American goalkeeper Gaga Slonina to fill that box.

On March 8, 2019, Slonina signed a professional homegrown player contract with Chicago Fire. At the age of 14, he became the second youngest signing in Major League Soccer history and the youngest signing ever for the Chicago Fire.

He has already caught the eye of a host of European clubs, with Real Madrid being the alleged frontrunners. The 14-time European champions will also be letting go of a number of players this summer.

Things should take an interesting turn if a three-way bidding war starts between the clubs. That would only mean an eventual price hike, and benefit for Chicago Fire. Wherever he goes, however, Slonina’s game time will be limited should join any of the aforementioned clubs, with seasoned veterans already occupying the goalkeeper spot.

Slolina, though, should not shy away from making a move. A transfer to any of those clubs would potentially open up gateways to other clubs in Europe. Besides, being an understudy to the best keepers in the world is a massive learning opportunity at this young age. Such an opportunity seldom opens up in front of youngsters.

Born in Illinois, the 18-year old has already represented the USA at youth level. But he is also eligible to represent Poland because of his ancestry.
