Tyreek Hill points finger at Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce for leaving Chiefs: “I was all the quarterbacks’ main chick”

Tyreek Hill was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins back in 2022. Following his move, the accomplished wide receiver inked a substantial four-year, $120 million contract extension with his new team. Despite achieving Super Bowl success and gaining stardom with the Chiefs, Hill has been vocal in criticizing his former team and QB since his departure.

In a recent podcast with Robert Griffin III, Hill revealed the real reason behind his trade request as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Tyreek Hill blames Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce for leaving Chiefs

Tyreek Hill, in a podcast with Robert Griffin III, humorously pointed to the close friendship between Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce as a reason for his departure. He jokingly mentioned feeling like the “side chick” since Mahomes often invited Kelce over but not him.

“Pat had Kelce, I was kinda jealous. I was hurt. Patrick you never invited me over to your house like you did Kelce, you always invited Kelce, that’s why we here where we at.”

Hill hinted that he wanted a more significant role in the Chiefs’ offense, expressing dissatisfaction with his pass targets.

“I’ve never been anybody’s side chick before. Never, always my whole life, high school, middle school. all the quarterbacks’ main chick. I go to KC, now I’m the side chick. I’m like hold on, what’s going on here, you taking me to Joe’s BBQ? No, I want no barbecue, I want to go to the fancy restaurants…. I want to go to Nobu.”

Despite the jest, Hill acknowledged Mahomes as a great teammate and leader but suggested that the working relationship couldn’t last.

The WR’s desire to get the “main chick role” has come true with the Dolphins. In Miami, Tyreek Hill has become the go-to player for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, securing a prominent role in the team.

What is Tyreek Hill’s contract with Dolphins?

After spending successful seasons with the Chiefs, Tyreek Hill requested a trade and was traded to the Dolphins in 2022. The team soon offered him a lucrative four-year contract extension worth $120 million.

This deal included a $25 million signing bonus and $52 million guaranteed at signing. The contract includes a workout bonus of $100,000 each year, a roster bonus of $10 million in 2023, and a $1 million roster bonus in 2025.

There’s also an option to extend the contract for an additional year in 2026 with a salary of $43.9 million. There were many reasons behind Tyreek Hill’s decision to leave the Chiefs, including contract negotiations and dynamics within the team as he shared in the podcast.

The wide receiver’s claim that Mahomes-Kelce’s friendship made him jealous is not deniable considering both share a very strong on and off-field bond and support each other in every aspect of life.

However, Tyreek Hill is over that phase now and is satisfied with his current team aspiring for more success.
