UFC rumors: Dana White picks ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler to welcome Conor McGregor back

Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor arguably is still the UFCs biggest draw despite his recent losses. He not only conceded a loss in his last fight against Dustin ‘The diamond’ Poirier but also suffered a severe leg injury.

Fans and fighters alike thought Conor was done following his defeat. However, ‘Mystic Mac’ himself confirmed that the Octagon hadn’t seen the last of him. He is currently undergoing recovery in Amsterdam and expects to return in 2023.

Many fighters including ‘Iron’ Mike Chandler took this opportunity to call him out. Now UFC president Dana White talks about the fighter he has in mind. Speaking with ESPN, Dana picked Chandler to be a good potential matchup for Conor.

UFC seemingly wants Conor to go in an old-school brawl fight as he seems to struggle against wrestlers. Putting ‘The Notorious’ against brawlers like Justin Gaethje is also not a good idea since the energy might be too much.

Michael Chandler has been struggling in the UFC too as his only wins came against Dan Hooker and Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson. Despite his losses, the former Bellator champ’s fights have usually been fun to watch. He and Conor inside the cage would probably be a fun night for the fans.

Chandler spoke about this bout in an interview saying, “People think it’s going to be the fastest-paced, craziest first round of all time (and) I definitely think it will be. The way that Conor Mcgregor starts fights, the way I start fights – it’s a car crash in the middle of the octagon.”

“Hopefully at T-Mobile Arena here in Vegas in July. It’s going to be huge, it’s going to be awesome and I believe it’s going to happen. Things are moving in the right direction, so let’s make it happen.”

How do you think this match will play out? Do you have any better matchups in mind? Let us know.
