Valentina Shevchenko calls out for title bout to Manon Fiorot next

The UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has been absent from the Octagon for around six months now. Her last bout took place against Talia Santos on UFC 275 in Singapore. Shevchenko won that fight in a very close decision.

The Kyrgyzstan-born fighter has been very active outside the octagon as she appeared in movies like ‘Bruised’ alongside Halle Berry. Fans probably would prefer to see her defend her title and Shevchenko seems well aware of this.

Speaking with The Schmo, Valentina was asked why she was taking such a huge break and when she could be expected to return. The flyweight champ then claimed that she was actually ready to fight and it was actually the UFC who didn’t give her an opponent. Mentioning French fighter Fiorot as her potential next opponent she said,

“I was thinking about Manon Fiorot to defend my title – to defend flyweight [title next]. And I asked [the UFC] to send me the agreement as soon as they can because I was ready to fight in December. I was ready to fight tomorrow. But yeah, [we] probably will do it next year.”

Fiorot(10-1) is now the number 1 title challenger after her victory against Katlyn Chookagian at UFC 280. Another name that constantly comes up in the title fight picture is Talia Santos, who had her last fight against Valentina. She along with many fans probably didn’t agree with the judge’s decision.

When asked about the Talia rematch, ‘The Bullet’ replied, “Taila, she kind of has to prove about herself, that she deserves this title again, Because she recently started to speak too much. And these kind of girls, young girls, they have a few victories, some losses, and they have too much ego, and they are starting to speak about themselves like they are something.”
