WBC issue major announcement for Jake Paul ahead of Tommy Fury boxing match in Saudi Arabia

Jake Paul has come a long way from his days as a rookie boxer trying to make a name for himself by taking on other celebrities. Many still rightfully doubted his performances against washed-out fighters he fought down the line but it finally looks like the Cleveland native will get a place at the rankings as WBC has stepped in.

The boxing world works a little differently from other Combat Sports as there are 4 major promotions: WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF. Holding a ranking in any of these promotions can be quite prestigious and valuable for any boxer.

Now the president of WBC Mauricio Sulaiman has made a significant announcement in favor of the young Paul should he manage to beat Tommy Fury in their upcoming bout.

During an interview with sky sports, the WBC head honcho went on to say, “Jake Paul has been close to the WBC for several years, starting with the first event promoted in the UK when his brother, Logan, fought KSI. On that night Jake won the WBC amateur belt in the undercard fights. Jake has dedication and respect to the sport and the WBC will not tolerate discrimination against anyone.”

“He deserves the opportunities that any other boxer has. He demonstrated punching power and improved skills as well as a solid chin. Tommy Fury represents a clear challenge to Paul in a battle of two undefeated professional boxers,” he added further.

What do the WBC announcements tell us about Jake Paul?

Paul had a really difficult time getting accepted as a proper boxer by a huge chunk of both fighters and professionals. But the former vine star finally has seemingly earned some cred to his name as big names like Teddy Atlas has come out favoring him to win.

Let’s see how Jake does against ‘TNT’ when their 8-round brawl goes down come February 26th.
