“Both guys could taste my fists”: Belal Muhammad talks on his UFC welterweight title shot against winner of speculated Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington bout

After a seven-month absence, Belal Muhammad made a triumphant return to the octagon. ‘Remember The Name’ doesn’t appear to be planning on stopping anytime soon as has already threatened to defeat Colby Covington and Leon Edwards in his next fight.

Gilbert Burns, the fifth-ranked fighter in the division, yesterday took on Belal, the fourth-ranked fighter in the division, in the co-main event of UFC 288 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. ‘Remember The Name’ won by unanimous decision with judges scoring him 50-45, 49-46, and 49-46 in his favor.

What did Belal Muhammad have to say about fighting Leon Edwards or Colby Covington next?

Not only did Belal triumph over Durinho, but he also extended his winning streak. Despite widespread skepticism about his MMA ability and octagon charisma, the welterweight fighter clearly advanced one more step toward the top of the podium to wear the gold strap.

The American fighter took a break during the month of Ramadan and was unable to perform his usual workout at the gym. For the 34-year-old mixed martial artist, it is indeed such a great performance within just two weeks’ preparation.

During the octagon interview with Joe Rogan, Belal’s instant reaction was, “My first thoughts are… New Jersey, you suck!  My second thought, Leon and Colby. I’m coming for both of you guys,”

According to Dana White, who made this announcement prior to UFC 288, the victor of the match between Belal and Burns will be qualified for a title bout. Therefore, in the post-fight press conference, Belal gave Colby Covington and Leon Edwards a firm warning.

“He beat the GOAT (Leon). He has the longest winning streak. For me, taking that title from him, especially the way that last fight went, and for him to be satisfied with a fight decision like that, it goes sweet either way. Both guys could taste my fists, and I’ll be happy with either one.” Belal said.

The UFC fans are already hyped for a title match featuring Belal Muhammad. Who do you think the Palestinians will meet, Leon Edwards or Colby Covington? Don’t forget to share a comment with your viewpoint.
