Chael Sonnen is skeptical of Jon Jones’ UFC return, citing the absence of Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic

Former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen has expressed his doubts on the potential Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic fight, saying that there is a very strong feeling around it.

The return of Jon Jones is something UFC all over the world are waiting for. The former Light Heavyweight Champion last fought in 2020. He is set to go up a division to heavyweight, and fight against Stipe Miocic.

But although there have been plenty of rumors about this fight happening, there hasn’t been any official news yet. UFC fans seemed to be fixated on the idea that Jones will fight Miocic when he returns.

Former fighter and current commentator Chael Sonnen has touched on this saying that there hasn’t been any sign of a fight happening from the Miocic camp. Sonnen’s claim make a lot of sense given that a fight of this magnitude usually has hype built up about it months before.

Although Jones has been hyping up his return for a while now, the prospects of a potential fight might dim down if we don’t see any sign of progress from the Miocic camp.

Sonnen’s apprehensions are not unfounded. A lot of people have been doubting the legitimacy of the chances of the Miocic vs Jones fight. Jones has been out of action for over two years, whereas Miocic is yet to fight ever since losing the belt to current champion Francis Ngannou. Jones has also mentioned that he is up for fighting Ngannou, but it we have to wait and see how things unravel.
