Dana White teases Alex Pereira with possible title shot if Poatan defeats Jan Błachowicz at UFC 291: ‘‘He’s in a pretty damn good spot’’

Alex Pereira is set to face Jan Blachowicz in his light heavyweight debut. Dana White has assured Pereira if he defeats Jan, a title opportunity will be waiting for him.

On July 29, 2023, in the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah, Pereira will make his light heavyweight debut in UFC 291 headlining Poirier vs. Gaethje 2. Pereira will open a new chapter in his MMA career against the Polish fighter.

Does Alex Pereira deserve a title shot?

Periera is highly confident that he’s going to have a great start in the light heavyweight division. After suffering a defeat against Israel Adesanya, the Brazilian fighter defeated taste his luck in 205-lb weight class.

Dana White during the UFC Fight Night press conference addressed Pereira’s desire to get a title shot. The UFC head didn’t ensure anything but what he said might just make Poatan hopeful for the future.

“Nothing is ever guaranteed, but if he beats Jan, he’s in a pretty damn good spot. Not a bad place to be, if you beat Jan.” Dana said.

Can Alex Pereira defeat Jamahal Hill if he gets his title shot?

In a recent interview, Pereira talked about Jamahal Hill, the current light-heavyweight champion. Hill, who is set to face Jiri Prochazka, will win, according to Poatan.

The Brazilian fighter is aiming for the light title by defeating ‘Sweet Dreams‘. However, it would be an interesting battle if Alex eventually gets into an octagon fight with the reigning champion of 205-lb.

Poatan, the former light-heavyweight king, was quite the performer in light heavyweight division during his Glory kickboxing days. As  the Brazilian had won two kickboxing titles it is therefore reasonable to assume he will be a worthy opponent for Jamahal.
