Daniel Cormier reveals surprising insider of his former opponent Patrick Cummins working as ‘barista at star bucks’ week before their fight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion of the world, Daniel “DC” Cormier has revealed a surprising inside story of his former opponent Patrick Cummins. DC said on his podcast “DC & RC” that one week before their fight at UFC 170, Patrick Cummins was working as a barista in Starbucks.

Patrick Cummins went from Starbucks employee to UFC co-main eventer in just the span of one week! Although sadly, this fairy tale story ended with a first-round TKO. Cummins was a very last-minute replacement for Rashad Evans who had to pull out of the Daniel Cormier fight due to injury.

After Evans pulled out from UFC 170, Daniel Cormier was left without an opponent. But he was adamant about fighting and requested UFC president Dana White for a fight. In comes Patrick Cummins with a tweet about wanting to fight Cormier.

Dana White signed him to the UFC on the spot and 1 week later he was co-main eventing on a Ronda Rousey fight card! The former Barista’s life changed drastically as he remained in the UFC for the next 5 years earning 6 wins and 7 losses in the process. Patrick Cummins is now retired, and so is Daniel Cormier.

But DC remembers him fondly and most recently mentioned him on the hit YouTube show “DC & RC”.  Here is a clip of their fight:

Cummins was 4-0 in his professional MMA but those fights were contested outside the UFC. The interesting tidbit of a barista fighting on the world stage was revealed hilariously by DC.
