Darren Till among three fighters removed from active roster after submission loss to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 282

The day has finally come! Darren Till was already struggling to find his rhythm inside the octagon for a good while now. The Brit has also gone through injuries that could have brought forth this outcome. Even though Dana White still wanted to keep the ‘Gorilla’ around, it is unclear (as of reporting time) who actually made the final choice.

In his career, Darren fought some of the top fighters in the Welterweight and Middleweight divisions and managed to defeat the likes of Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, Darren Till, and Kelvin Gastelum. Unfortunately, he last tasted victory all the way back in 2019 and managed to only win 1 of his last 5 fights.

One thing that Till should get credit for is his determination to fight killer after killer. In his last few fights, he took on Tyron Woodley, Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker, and, Derek Brunson. While many fighters try to take on easier opponents when they are on losing streaks, Darren went out like a warrior.

The Englishman took a lot of steps to get back his early form which included moving to Sweden and joining the rising contender Khamzat ‘The Borz’ Chimaev. But before the match against Dricus ‘Gorilla’ changed up his fight camps yet again and during the actual fight, his lack of ground game was on display.

Who got cut other than Darren Till?

One of the other cut fighters is UFC Bantamweight Jose Johnson(15-7), who never fought in the UFC. He got the chance to enter the Contender series but had to pull out from both of his scheduled bouts.

The other significant fighter to get cut was Zubaira Thukugov. Zuba had been struggling with making weight and even missed weight on his last fight. A loss on top of that probably spelt the doom for him. Plus, he doesn’t seem to have the level of performance many expect from the ‘Khabib’ camp.

What is your opinion on these cuts?
