Days after getting nod as Leon Edwards’ contender, Colby Covington hits back at Matt Brown’s retirement speculation

Matt Brown recently made a statement that drew a lot of criticism. He said that he doesn’t believe Colby Covington will continue to fight in the UFC if he suffers a loss in his upcoming fight against Leon Edwards.

‘Chaos’ addressed this issue himself and criticized Brown’s opinion in a recent interview with Submission Radio, a popular YouTube channel, where he had some harsh words for Matt.

Colby Covington claps back at Matt Brown’s predictions

Matt Brown openly said that he does not think that Colby Covington would be able to stay in the oragnisation and continue fighting if he losses to Leon Edwards in the coming UFC 296 card. Colby responded to this in a Youtube video.

Covington had a lot to say about this. He began by mentioning that he’s in a better place now, with a nicer house and more money in the bank, suggesting that Matt may have spent his wealth on drugs. He further elaborated by saying, ‘Don’t hate me; hate the fact that you have to live in trailer trash.’

Colby asked Matt to sort out his life before commenting on others, stating that if Matt hadn’t turned to drugs, he would be in a much better place in life. Colby emphasized that he has discipline and self-control, something Matt knows nothing about.

Even other fighters like Connor McGregor on previous occasions have said that Matt Brown is irrelevant and so are his opinions.

Dana White taps Covington as next welterweight title challenger

Leon Edwards is going to be defending his welterweight title against Colby Covington in UFC 296 in Las Vegas. Dana White believes that Colby Covington is the right person for this fight because of his flighting style.

Leon on plenty of different occasions has said no for this fight, but now finally the bout is going to take place. Dana said, “The champ hasn’t lost a fight in eight years and is coming off back-to-back wins over the greatest welterweight of all time – Kamaru Usman.”

He further justified his view on why Colby Covington is the right fighter by saying, “He’s defending his title against Colby Covington, a relentless pressure fighter with unstoppable cardio.”

This is going to be an amazing fight to watch and a lot of fighters have already dropped their views on it like Chael Sonnen. What are your thoughts on this fight and the rest of the UFC 296 card do let us know.
