Francis Ngannou is probably one of the most exciting fighters to have fought for the Heavyweight division in recent years. The 6ft 4 giant nearly lost his edge after losing to Stipe Miocic but later came back stronger to finally capture the title in UFC 260. After capturing the title, however, he started raising some contractual issues.
Francis had a rough start in his early days. He was born and raised in Cameroon where he lived a poor life. But the future champion was hungry for bigger opportunities and decided to migrate to France. It was a rough journey and at times Ngannou thought this would be his last. But he finally did manage to hit the shore of France.
After this point, Francis started training and his massive power was noticed by the people around him. While in France he was training with future UFC heavyweight prospect Cyril Gane. Finally, the move to UFC happened and Ngannou started dropping bodies left and right.
‘The Predator’ managed to defeat big names like Alistair Overeem, Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, and Junior Dos Santos. After losing to Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis, he eventually managed to avenge his loss against Stipe too. So far the Cameroonian seemed quiet about his payments but after becoming champ the money got to his head.
Why would Francis Ngannou want to move to PFL?
Ngannou’s issues mainly began after he took notice of the huge sum of money boxers were making. Francis thought that he could make enough money to last a long time through only 1 bigshot boxing match. A potential matchup against Tyson Fury was getting eyed too.
But the contracts didn’t seem to get finalized and ‘The Predator had to stalk his prey in MMA. PFL is another MMA promotion that offers a $1 million rewards bonus for 1 champion fighter each year. Francis claimed earlier that he was done with the $500k-600k contracts. He might be moving to PFL to secure that million-dollar payday.
The rumors began to spread after a person was seen wearing the PFL shirt on the Heavyweight champion’s new years post on Instagram. But many think the fight against Jon Jones can earn him a huge payday and the fight might finally take place in 2023.
