Did Khamzat Chimaev’s new training footage just reveal his leg injury?

The Khamzat Chimaev hype train might have lost a lot it’s steam by now. What started as a back to back domination over two weight classes in less than two weeks, now seems to struggle to find opponents. If new training footage is anything to go by, the Swedish might have to weight longer for his comeback.

Khamzat carried his earlier momentum into his fight with Gerald Meerschaert where he got a super fast KO. Then he was booked to fight Chinese prospect Li Jingliang where he again dominated his opponent by carrying him like a rag doll and finishing him within the first round.

One weakness in the Russian’s forte was already beginning to show in this fight. Chimaev struggled to make the proper weight and had to adapt the good old ‘Daniel Cormier’ towel trick to maintain his eligibility for the fight. This victory earned him a chance to make a loud statement against top Welterweight Gilbert Burns.

The ‘Borz’ mocked the UFC veteran leading up to the fight claiming it was going to be an easy fight. But Khamzat seemed to have lost his focus in all the hype while Burns was razor focused on the bout. And the fight almost went to the favor of Gilbert with Chimaev picking up a narrow win.

The Swedish citizen got another big fight against UFC veteran Nate Diaz. This time the Chechen missed wait by a huge margin and didn’t show any remorse for his actions. Many fans at this time had enough and began withdrawing their support for the one hyped up two division prospect.

Once thought to be a champion in record time now struggles to find opponents. Recently Chimaev has been looking very jacked and many are speculating a permanent move to Middleweight. One footage shows the Russian picking up weights while suffering an injury on his feet.

A voice behind the camera thought to be coach is seen talking him through the endeavor. Many fans who have stuck around with the ‘Wolf’ now wonder if he will even be able to make a comeback in 2023.
