In a real surprise, Erickson Lubin pulled off an upset against previously unbeaten highly ranked 154-lb contender Jesus Ramos. The Hammer won the 12-round fight with a unanimous decision to pick up the WBC Diamond title on Saturday night in the co-feature of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Jermell Charlo card on Showtime PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Professional Boxer Gervonta Davis took time out of his schedule to congratulate Erickson Lubin on his magnificent win against Jesus Ramos. However, UFC legend Henry Cejudo wasn’t impressed by the referring of the bout.
Gervonta Davis praises Erickson Lubin
Gervonta Davis, also known as ‘The Tank’ was impressed by the performance of Erickson Lubin against Jesus Ramos. The lightweight champion took to X( Twitter) to appreciate and praise The Hammer.
Davis wrote, “Top dawg fasho,” but the rest of the boxing world wasn’t impressed with Lubin. In fact, many believe it was a robbery in favor of Jesus Ramos. Gervonta Davis’s praise received a lot of criticism from boxing fans. One fan commented, “Cmon tank, you know that was a robbery, don’t be biased,” while another fan questioned the officials’ decision, writing, “I love you tank, but that scorecard wasn’t it.”
Henry Cejudo unimpressed with match officials
The outcome of the fight was highly disputed and caught the attention of the UFC community. Even former UFC bantamweight and flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo, believed that the officials did not perform their job accurately.
On Twitter, Henry Cejudo expressed his dissatisfaction with the officials, stating that boxing can destroy one’s career. He also claimed that the judges are unable to fairly score a fight. According to Henry, Jesus Ramos only lost three out of the twelve rounds.
People in the comment section seemed to agree with Cejudo’s opinion. However, some of them stated that the judging in the UFC is also as bad as judging in Boxing, while another fan threw some punches at Henry and said, “Just like how the judges robbed DJ against you,” referring to the controversial win of Henry over Demetrius Johnson back in 2018.
