Maycee Barber is determined to face Alexa Grasso in her next UFC fight, after her spectacular win at UFC Jacksonville, regardless of whether or not the title is at stake. Following her unanimous decision loss to Grasso at UFC 258 in February 2021, Barber has gone on an impressive five-fight winning streak.

Her most recent victory at UFC on ABC 5 showcased her remarkable growth as she dominated Amanda Ribas, earning a second-round TKO and the Performance of the Night award.

Barber’s continuous development in her skills was evident in her fight against Ribas. Now, she seeks to demonstrate just how far she has come by having a rematch with the only fighter to defeat her.

Despite Grasso’s upcoming championship bout against Valentina Shevchenko on September 16, Barber is eager to square off against her, undeterred by the outcome of the title fight.

“I’ve been saying it time and time again: Whether Alexa wins against Valentina again or not, I do want that rematch,” Barber told MMA Junkie and other reporters at the UFC on ABC 5 post-fight news conference.

“So, we’ll see. That would be ideal. We’ll see. I’m going to go back and talk to Hunter (Campbell) and Mick (Maynard) and the team, then we’ll figure it out.”

Despite her impressive winning streak, Maycee has faced criticism from fans due to some of her fights being closely contested.
