“I bet you he’s going to move to 205” Israel Adesanya to force Alex Pereira to jump weight class after UFC 287 bout

UFC 287 will feature a legendary 4th (second in the UFC) bout with Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira. The fight is significant for a lot of reasons and the former champion could face some severe consequences if he does not manage to secure a victory in the fight. ‘The last Stylebender’ still seems confident about his chances.

‘The last Stylebender’ spoke about his upcoming fight to the media,

“He’s got bragging rights. I got the opportunity to claim it back, but I’m going to say less and do more. After this fight, I bet you he’s going to move to 205 (pounds). So this is my shot, and this is why I’m putting everything into this. This is a part of my story. In any story, there are valleys. Also for him, one man’s hero is another man’s villain.”

“If you look at his life from his point of view, I’m the villain. I’m the guy – the underdog that he beat. I went to the UFC, and he chased me, got me, and beat me. So this is my story now. This is my time for his story,” he concluded.

What could happen after Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira 2?

Israel has pretty much beaten up all the old contenders in his division. The likes of Robert Whittaker, Jared Cannonier, Marvin Vettori, Anderson Silva, and Yoel Romero have all tried to defeat the Kiwi but failed. There are some new contenders like Khamzat Chimaev on the rise but the Chechen still has some way to go.

Alex could, however, move to the Light-heavyweight division for a number of reasons. Not only has he fought in the heavier weight class during his kickboxing days, but he also wants to avenge his teammate Glover Teixeira who has lost the title fight against Jamahal Hill. The current 205lbs champ seems to welcome the idea so we may see that fight soon.

Who do you think will be the champion after UFC 287?
