Dana White, the president of the UFC, recently commented on the potential fight between YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul and UFC fighter Nate Diaz. While White refused to give his opinion on the fight, he did express his hope that the two fighters would make a lot of money from the bout.
Paul has been calling out Diaz for a while now. And there has been a lot of speculation about whether the two will actually fight. Diaz is known for his striking and grappling skills. Stockton’s finest has a huge fan following in the UFC. However, he is not exactly a boxer, rather a submission artist.
Dana White weighed in on the possibilities
White, for his part, has been critical of Paul’s foray into boxing. The UFC boss called him a “YouTube kid” and dismissed his fights as “circus acts.” However, he has also acknowledged that Paul has brought a lot of attention to the sport.
White claimed that he has been a “huge success” in terms of generating revenue. With that said, he claimed, “I wish ‘em the best, I hope they make a zillion dollars.”
Despite his reservations about Paul’s abilities as a boxer, Dana has not ruled out the possibility of a fight between the YouTube star and the UFC fighter. He has said that he would be willing to work with Paul to make a fight happen. As long as it was a “real fight” and not a “circus act” he would try to make ends meet.
What can Jake Paul expect out of a fight with Nate Diaz?
Many fans and analysts have expressed their opinions on the potential fight. A lot of fans along with critics believe that Diaz would be a tough opponent for Paul. Diaz is not best known for his baking skills
However he has an incredible ability to take a lot of punishment, This could pose a significant challenge for Paul. Even the former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping claimed that Diaz could get the upper hand for his resilience.
However, Paul has also been training hard and has shown improvement in his boxing skills. He has been calling out a number of high-profile fighters. Previously, he even edged over the former UFC fighter Ben Askren.
On the other hand, Diaz is far away from the repertoire Askren possessed. This is why, in an effort to prove that Paul is a legitimate boxer and not just a social media personality, he will look forward to this bout happening.
The fight is scheduled to take place on August 5, in Dallas, Texas. Then again, whether the fight between Paul and Diaz will actually happen remains to be seen. However, there is no denying that it would probably be a huge event and would generate a lot of interest and revenue.
