“I just don’t know if I can play a long, long time” Blazers star Damian Lillard contemplates retirement claiming “I don’t enjoy what the NBA as a whole is becoming”

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard opened up about his contemplation of retirement, citing his disillusionment with the direction the NBA is heading in as it is becoming obsessed with only winning championships.

The NBA 75th Anniversary Team member has solidified his position as one of the greatest Brazers, scoring six All-NBA selections, including one first-team nod, four second-teams, and one third-team selection.

Damian never halted back to explode truth bombs as recently this veteran player was seen slamming young players for not having the team-first mentality.

Why is Damian Lillard disappointed in the current NBA scenario?

The future Hall of Famer Damian Lillard recently appeared on JJ Redick’s Old Man and Three Podcast, where he vented out his frustration over current league scenarios by lamenting over the fact that the NBA landscape has deteriorated since the time he got drafted in 2012.

The sensational point guard seemed very much bothered with the prevalence of ring culture, as fans now only rank athletes based on how many rings they have won.

Lillard continued the discussion by stating that athletes typically compete with the goal of winning the championship but that this objective alone cannot be considered as important as the journey itself and a number of other worthwhile things.

The seven-time NBA All-Star continued saying he was talking after a game a few days ago, and reporters asked him about winning a ring which bothered him, making him state he doesn’t need to prove to anyone that he needs to win a ring.

Is Lillard going to retire?

The current NBA scenario has made Lillard disappointed to the extent that he contemplated retiring earlier than initially thought as he mentioned that he isn’t liking what the league is becoming and hence, he is not sure if he can play longer.

The 32-year-old added that because he has a life outside of basketball, including playing with his kids, hanging out with his cousins, seeing his mother, and having chit-chat on the phone with his grandma, he can’t just sit there and concentrate on playing.

Damian Lillard played his entire career for the Portland Trail Blazers, drafting him into the NBA. This veteran player has endured many ups and downs in his career, but fans aren’t yet ready to bid adieu to him and expect him to endure more for the sake of their favorite team.
