“I think that’s a massive fight”: Rolly Romeo drops bombshell on potential boxing bout vs Ryan Garcia

When Rolando Romero lost to Gervonta Davis in his final fight a year ago, his fourteen-fight winning streak came to a stop. Rolly, though, now wants to fight Ryan Garcia as well in addition to a rematch with Tank.

On May 28, 2022, Romero (14-1-0, 12 KOs) and Davis (29-0-0, 27 KOs) fought for the WBA World Lightweight title at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Tank won the match by technical knockout in the sixth round, maintaining his undefeated record.

Romero, though, insisted on a rematch because he thought he was the most formidable foe Tank had ever faced. Gervonta didn’t show any interest to fight Rolly again. Since then, Romero hasn’t stepped into the ring yet while Tank has won a highly anticipated match against Ryan Garcia.

What did Rolando Romero say about a potential fight against Ryan Garcia?

Garcia vs. Gervonta, the largest boxing event of the year, took place on April 22 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where Tank defeated KingRy. Romero expressed his wish to face Garcia during a press conference on Thursday at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, where he was discussing his upcoming fight against Ismael Barroso.

“There’s definitely the Ryan Garcia fight. I mean, I think everybody’s asking for me versus Ryan right now. Especially at 140.You know, we’re both at 140 now.” said Romero.

Ryan is still taking some time to get over his loss to Tank. Even though KingRy has expressed interest in facing Devin Haney as his next opponent, no fights have been set as of yet. If Romero wins against Ismael, he will own the vacant WBA super lightweight, hence Ryan will most likely want to face him in the ring.

“I think that’s the fight. You know, boxing needs that fight. It has a long buildup – a long, long buildup.” Romero added.
