“I want him at his best”: UFC champion Aljamain Sterling reveals he wants to fight Sean O’Malley at his peak

The upcoming UFC bantamweight title match has been the subject of a lot of turbulence. In spite of everything, Aljamain Sterling claimed that he wants Sean O’Malley to be fully fit before he takes him on so that Sugar won’t have any excuses if he loses.

Ever since the first Petr Yan fight, Aljo has been subject to a lot of criticism from fans and peers alike. At this point, the Jamaican might be feeling tired of the constant public backlash. Which is probably why he wants to finish his next opponent fair and square.

Aljamain Sterling wants the best version of Sean O’Malley!

There were some doubts as to whether Sterling’s health troubles would prevent the bantamweight title fight from happening. However, Sterling appears to be putting the blame on Sean, as Dana White made it clear yesterday that he is certain the fight would proceed as planned.

“It’s the weakest and softest shit to say. “I really hope you’re affected by the quick turnaround, tough weight cut, and any other advantage to save me! We built different. I want him at his best. No excuses!” Sterling said.

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, Sugar Sean and The Funk Master are slated to square off in Boston’s TD Garden. In the UFC 292 main event. The reigning champion Sterling is expected to defend his title for the fourth time.

How did Sean O’Malley get a title shot against Aljamain Sterling?

Sugar is ranked second, just behind Merab Dvalishvili in the bantamweight division. Sean is undoubtedly deserving of getting the next opportunity to compete for the title given his four-fight winning streak.

Sean is getting an advantage over Merab as the Georgian fighter considers Sterling to be his close friend and hence he won’t claim his shot at the gold. In recent interviews, Suger has also expressed his belief that, after seizing the gold strap from Sterling, he can finally be the face of the UFC.

While all of this was going on, Henry Cejudo, the former two-division champion, made Dana White a proposal. Triple C reportedly wants to replace Sterling and take on Sean if the ‘Funk Master’ withdraws from the bout. Would you be interested in a matchup between ‘Sugar’ Sean and Triple C?
