Islam Makhachev intends to finish off Alexander Volkanovski by taking him to “Deep Ocean” at UFC 284

Fans of the Ultimate Fighting Championship have been anticipating the fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev for quite some time. Islam is pumped up and ready to destroy his opponent in a glorious fashion.

On February 12th, at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski will fight it out in the octagon. As the current lightweight champion, Makhachev will be defending his title against Alexander Volkanovski, the current featherweight champion.

There have been a lot of speculations among the UFC enthusiasts regarding who is going to win the blockbuster fight, but the reigning lightweight champion is determined to triumph against his opponent from Australia.

The mixed martial arts fighter from Dagestan is known for his great wrestling ability, and he intends to use this skill in his bout of a lifetime against The Great. On the UFC countdown, Islam reveals his strategy saying, “Volkanovski, I’m going to make him tired. Bring him into the deep ocean and finish him there,”

Islam has won 11 of his 12 fights since making his UFC debut in 2015, with his only loss coming against Adriano Martins in the same year. The Russian fighter has maintained his unbeatable streak ever since.

At UFC 280 in October 2022, the Russain faced Charles Oliveira for his first title battle. Makhachev extended his unbeaten streak to eight years with the decisive win, but Volkanovski will likely be the toughest opponent he has ever faced in his MMA career.

“All my opponents say I’m gonna stop his wrestling he not going to take me down but brother Australia doesn’t have wrestling. That’s why I don’t care. Alex, if you are a good wrestler and have good defense, you can go to the Olympic games from Australia.” Islam said.

Islam’s next opponent, Volkanovski, has competed in the welterweight, lightweight, and featherweight divisions. The Australian, who has won twelve matches in a row, is set to fight the reigning lightweight champion in the octagon to be the double champ. In 2022, he had already defeated Jung Chan-sung and Max Holloway.

Islam reminded Alexander Volkanovski in an interview that the lightweight category is his territory and that no one, not even the Australian, can beat him since he is the ultimate champion.

Do you think Islam Makhachev will be able to defend his lightweight title against Alexander Volkanovski on February 11 at the RAC Arena, or will Alexander Volkanovski become a double champion?
