Khabib Nurmagomedov remarks doing business with Tony Ferguson to be a dumb move

Despite being scheduled and rescheduled multiple times, the fight between UFC lightweight contenders Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson did not take place. Khabib has since gone on to retire, whilst Ferguson still competes in the promotion. Their altercation seems to have been destined to not happen, but the UFC has come up with the idea to make the two fighters coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) in order for them to potentially face-off inside the octagon.

Even though Khabib Nurmagomedov does not compete any longer, “El Cucuy” Ferguson never shies away from throwing a friendly jab at the undefeated Russian. Khabib has been asked about the potential meeting of the two in TUF, and while he is willing to entertain the idea of the competition, he does not rate Ferguson’s business acumen all that much

“I don’t hate this guy(Tony Ferguson), you know. I like him. But he has a little bit of a brain problem, I think. This is my opinion, you know. But for him, this is good. Because, like, he’s 38 he doesn’t need to compete with all these lions, you know. They’re young, they’re hungry, like, he’s like 38, just come with me, make money, do like some Ultimate Fighter show, be coach, be nice, you know. For him, for his kids, for his family, is gonna be better. But I don’t think he is smart enough to do business with me.”

While Ferguson hasn’t responded to the claims, it won’t be any surprise to see him throw in a borderline fanatic-like rebuttal.

The Ultimate Fighter is an American reality television series and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition produced by the UFC. The winner of the show gets a guaranteed contract to fight in the biggest MMA promotion in the world.
