Kyrie Irving claps back at recent career assessment post LeBron James split

After leaving LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017, Kyrie Irving has had trouble finding success elsewhere. He has been to many teams around the NBA, most recently playing for the Dallas Mavericks, but has failed to make a major impact as a player or with his clubs.

Fans and commentators have doubted the once-dynamic point guard’s ability to repeat the success he had with LeBron because of his journey’s hurdles. He recently replied to a post that compared his performance post his LeBron era.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were where Kyrie Irving really came into his own as a player. When they teamed up with LeBron James, they made history by defeating the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals in a thrilling comeback. But Irving wanted his own reputation apart from James’, so he switched teams many times without ever winning a title.

Recently, KAI responded to a post that showed that he did not have much success since leaving LeBron by saying, “Pin this tweet and see what happens in the next few years,” 

As a result of his teams’ lack of success in the playoffs, Irving’s ability to win without LeBron has been called into question, despite the fact that his teams are always enjoyable to watch. Irving has promised to disprove his critics in the years to come.

Despite his team’s struggles last year, the Dallas Mavericks nonetheless offered Luka Doncic a $126 million deal. With the help of Kyrie Irving, the Mavericks are trying to repeat Dirk Nowitzki’s 2011 championship run. Irving’s potential and eventual championship success hinge on the following three years.

Much speculated LeBron reunion bore no fruit for Irving

The highly anticipated reunion between LeBron and Irving did not materialize, as the Los Angeles Lakers did not end up getting the superstar point guard. LeBron James expressed his dissatisfaction, but very immediately turned his attention back to the issues that the club faces.

Serious negotiations with Brooklyn to acquire Irving were taking place, but it was determined that the asking price was too high. After which Kyrie Irving was traded to the Mavericks. During this off-season as well Bron wanted a reunion with KAI but that also seems to have failed as Irving has signed a deal with Mavs. While LeBron James continues his quest to become the NBA’s all-time top scorer, the Los Angeles Lakers will now shift their attention to the games that are still to come.
