Ronald Koeman shows exit door to four Barcelona players saying they are unwanted at the club

Ronald Koeman has already started rebuilding his squad in FC Barcelona. As a part of the process, he has called four Barcelona players saying they are not indispensable anymore.

The calling started with Luis Suarez following Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, and Samuel Umtiti. As all of them are unwanted at the club, they need to move to new clubs this summer.

Earlier, the former Dutch player became the new coach of FC Barcelona after their humiliating defeat against Bayern Munich in Champions League Quarter Final. The whole club was in a mess that the current coach needs to sort out soon.

Koeman had been one of the main candidates to sit on the hot chair that Setien left. At first, he preferred to talk to Barcelona’s main man Lionel Messi to convince him to stay at his childhood club. But the Argentine is very upset and furious with everything going into the club.

The four FC Barcelona players whom Ronald Koeman called to leave this summer

Koeman wants to bring a significant change in his team to improve the squad. So he started with Luis Suarez who has been a great servant for the Spanish giant.

After arriving in 2014 from Liverpool, the Uruguayan netted 209 goals in the Blaugrana jersey.

But Koeman thinks the striker has passed his peak and no more effective enough for the team.

However, as per reports, Suarez is furious at the decision as he thinks he deserves better treatment from the coach and the club.

Alongside Suarez, Ivan Rakitic is also on the sale list of Barcelona. The Croatian has played a vital role in the Barcelona midfield for six years since coming from Sevilla in 2014.

But his previous season was way below his potential and his downfall is apparent scoring just one goal in the last 42 appearances.

He is already 32 and it is clear Barcelona want to release him now to gather some cash from his departure.

Arturo Vidal is the other midfielder who is on the list of departing the club this summer.

After coming from Bayern in 2018, the Chilean has been on a decent goal-scoring form for Barcelona, scoring 8 goals in 2019-20 La Liga season.

But Koeman wants young players in the midfield who can show some enthusiasm during the whole match. As a result, the 33-year-old doesn’t fit in Koeman’s squad.

The other player is Samuel Umtiti who has been fighting with multiple injuries since the last summer. The player also started in 10 League matches in the 2019-20 season and was out of the squad most of the time for his knee injury.

FC Barcelona is reluctant to keep an injury-prone player with a high wage. Hence, the center-back has been shown the exit door by Koeman.

Apart from these four, there are not many changes going to take place in Barcelona. Koeman is counting on Coutinho who will return to the club after his loan spell in Bayern Munich. The club has already brought in youngsters like Pedri and Trincao. Pjanic has arrived from Juventus in the swap deal for Arthur. They are also looking forward to land Eric Garcia from Manchester City.

It seems alongside these newcomers, the Spanish team will continue with other senior players for the next season.
