UFC 283 Brazil features Shogun Rua vs Ihor Potieria bout

UFC 283, the PPV event after the pandemic era organized in Brazil by UFC, already has some interesting fight lineup to follow. It’s now unofficially confirmed that the homeboy Mauricio Shogun Rua is set to take down Ihor Potieria on 23 January 2023 in Rio de Janeiro.

Mauricio Rua, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, has an impressive MMA career of 27 wins out of 41 fights in which he appeared. But it seems the legend has been getting old. Since 2019, the Brazilian has only managed to seal one victory against Antônio Rogério Nogueira by a split decision. This bout will probably be the final appearance in the octagon for the MMA legend.

In his last appearance at UFC 274, the champion of the 2005 PRIDE Middleweight Grand Prix lost the clash against Ovince Saint Preux by a split decision. The upcoming UFC 283 bout of Rua and Ihor would be slightly favorable for the Ukrainian Ihor Potieria.

Ihor Potieria (18-3-0) has not been quite a good performer in the octagon, he currently has a doubling losing streak. The Ukrainian will compete in this match for the second time after participating in “Dana White’s Contender Series.” Potieria lost his last fight against Kevin Lee by a unanimous decision.

Though the Ukrainian will have a huge age advantage of 14 years, Shogun is not an easy opponent to compete with as the Brazilian will have home advantage and has a lot of experience in the ring.

This bout will be an undercard event of UFC 283, where the main attraction will be the flyweight title unification fight of Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno. Their fourth battle will be a highly anticipated bout to watch.
