UFC 287: Fans outraged at Jorge Masvidal street brawl after Kevin Holland confrontation ahead showdown against Gilbert Burns

The King of Miami Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal is all set to return to the octagon on April 9th at UFC 287. Masvidal who is currently ranked eleven in the welterweight division will square off against fifth-ranked Brazilian Gilbert Burns. Masvidal is looking absolutely dialed in for this encounter as he believes a loss at this stage of his career can eliminate his dreams of capturing the UFC gold.

Masvidal also known as the ‘Street-Judas’ was recently involved in a scuffle with his fans post weigh-in for his fight at UFC 287. Masvidal reportedly got into a confrontation with an unnamed person outside the fighter hotel around the time of the ceremonial weigh-ins, according to TMZ Sports. In that regard, TMZ Sports then amended the story and disclosed that Holland’s manager Oren Hodak had confirmed that Masvidal’s altercation took place against Holland.

For a fact this isn’t the first altercation between the two welterweights as they both collided a day before as well. Although there was no obvious physical altercation, there were verbal jabs exchanged on both sides. Masvidal and Holland had developed a dislike for one another that manifested itself in that altercation. Masvidal is currently under fire for reportedly attacking his arch-rival Colby Covington outside a Miami steakhouse in March 2022. Two felonies have been filed against Masvidal, and the case is currently pending.

Can Jorge Masvidal get it done against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287?

Gilbert Burns, who recently scored a significant victory against Neil Magny, will face Jorge Masvidal, a deteriorating opponent who will definitely have some ring rust after being out of active competition for more than  year. Masvidal is a skilled striker with 16 knockout victories, while Burns is recognized for his powerful grappling style and nine submission victories. The hometown hero Masvidal is a surprising underdog in this fight, while Burns is a huge betting favorite.

Jorge Masvidal

This fight is important for Miami native Masvidal since he has previously stated in interviews building up to it that he will probably retire if he loses. This fight is a must-win for the veteran because a loss would put an end to his career as a top contender. He seems to be aware of this as well, hence the constant hints of retirement. Masvidal’s recent opponents have demonstrated his vulnerability to grappling-heavy strategies, which Burns can unquestionably take advantage of as one of the top grapplers at welterweight.
